Google launches Career Dreamer, an AI-powered career exploration tool

Google has launched a new experimental tool, Career Dreamer, which will help users explore more career opportunities using artificial intelligence. The company made the announcement on its blog.

  • Career Dreamer analyzes a user's experience, education, skills and interests to find career paths that might be a good fit.
  • The service allows users to create a "career identity" based on data they choose about jobs, education and skills. This profile can be used to build a resume or prepare for a job interview.
  • Career Dreamer provides a visualized map of possible career paths. If a user is interested in a particular career, they can learn more about it.
  • In addition, Gemini's artificial intelligence can provide advice on writing a cover letter or searching for additional job options.
  • It's worth noting that Career Dreamer doesn't offer jobs like Indeed or LinkedIn. Its main goal is to help users quickly explore different career options without wasting time on multiple searches.
  • Career Dreamer is currently only available in a test mode in the US. There is no word yet on whether Google plans to expand access to the tool to other countries.

Google cites a World Economic Forum study that found the average person changes 12 jobs in a lifetime, and that Gen Z can hold up to 18 different positions across six career fields. The company notes that Career Dreamer will help users understand how their existing skills can be useful in new careers.
