Google expands Deep Research feature in Gemini chatbot to all users

Google has expanded access to the Deep Research feature in the Gemini chatbot for all users. Now it can be used for free in more than 45 languages, without a Gemini Advanced subscription.

Deep Research allows you to create detailed yet easy-to-understand reports on complex topics. It works slower than a regular chatbot because it first creates a research plan and then starts searching the Internet for the necessary information.

Previously based on the Gemini 1.5 Pro model, this feature has now been updated to the experimental Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking, which uses the "chain of thought" principle to break down complex tasks into simpler steps.

The company also introduced a new experimental Gemini feature called Personalization. It uses the Flash Thinking model to customize answers based on data from the user's Google services.

With the user's permission, Gemini will be able to analyze search history and provide personalized answers. In the future, the system will be able to consider context from Google Photos and YouTube.

The feature can be enabled in the Gemini apps settings menu by selecting the "Personalization (experimental)" option. Users can turn it off at any time.

It is available for Gemini and Gemini Advanced users in the web version first, and will be available on mobile devices later.

We would like to remind you that the Deep Research feature is already available in other chatbots, including ChatGPT. However, Google got ahead of the competition by making it publicly available.
