The American startup Anthropic plans to launch a voice mode for Claude that will allow users to talk to AI models. This is an area in which competitors OpenAI and xAI have already presented their functions, Financial Times reports.
According to product manager Mike Krieger (who is one of the co-founders of Instagram), voice control is a useful way to interact. And Anthropic already has prototypes.
“We are doing some work around how Claude for desktop evolves. If it is going to be operating your computer, a more natural user interface might be to [speak to it],” Krieger said.
Krieger also said that Anthropic is already in talks with "a number of partners" working on voice AI products, to speed up the launch of this feature. According to the FT's source, Amazon and ElevenLabs, a London-based AI startup, have been involved in preliminary discussions, but no agreements have been signed yet.
As a reminder, Anthropic recently closed its latest funding round, reaching a valuation of $61.5 billion after the fundraising. The $3.5 billion Series E round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, an international venture capital fund.
