Ukrainian defense tech startup HIMERA unveils its new tactical communications system

Ukrainian defense tech startup HIMERA has presented its new tactical communications system operating in near-combat conditions and showcased its integration with situational awareness systems. AIN team was present at the showcase.

HIMERA announced its latest achievements:

  • Simultaneous transmission of voice and data, including GPS coordinates, messages and markers for display in the Combat Vision 4.0 and Kropyva situational awareness systems;
  • The ability to communicate with radio stations installed on moving objects (Infantry fighting vehicle);
  • Performance in conditions of simultaneous use of a large number of radios (27 users, 4 tablets);
  • Uninterrupted operation of the tactical system under the radar sighting of an electronic warfare device at a distance of 5 km;
  • Group communication via the G1 PRO radio at 55 km radius in ideal conditions, with the direct line of sight to the B1 repeater, which is 250 meters higher.

According to co-founder Misha Rudominski, HIMERA also offers a comprehensive solution - a tactical communication system not only for small groups and units, but also for brigade-level units.

The company says it has created an ecosystem where each unit supports all modern features for low probability of detection, interception and suppression (AES-256 encryption, mesh/MANET network configuration, pseudo-random frequency hopping).

HIMERA Product Line

  • G1 PRO portable radio - 48+ hours battery life;
  • B1 Standalone Range Extender - ready to go device;
  • E1 Internet Extender - provides high bandwidth in the most challenging terrain;
  • R1 Range Extender with Internet Relay Capability - wirelessly configures the entire network.

"The G1 Pro is a completely different model. In fact, it is what we originally set out to do. That is, G1 is our MVP," HIMERA said in a comment to AIN. "Compared to the previous model, G1 Pro has better encryption — AES-256. The communication range has improved a lot."
