Pixieray, a Finnish developer of adaptive eyewear with seamless clarity, has had a rebranding, now becoming known as IXI.
-
IXI (Pixieray) was founded by Niko Eiden, Rebecca Xu, Klaus Melakari, and Ville Miettinen back in 2021. The company develops an adaptive eyeglass lens solution that can constantly adjust the focal point, applying the ideal correction for users.
-
According to the company, its eye tracking technology, hidden within the IXI frames, and adjustable lenses can reduce eye strain and substantially increase user comfort compared to traditional eyeglass lenses which have fixed focal points.
-
The glasses could be useful for people who have jobs like welding that entail wearing helmets, ski masks, virtual reality goggles, or diving goggles.
“We’re creating the world’s first adaptive eyewear, with lenses that autofocus. Adapting to whatever you look at, they’ll let you see like never before,” told Jussi Havu, Chief Operating Officer at IXI on his Linkedin page.
In June 2021, IXI raised $4.4 million funding from Maki.vc and First Fellow, Amazon Alexa Fund, firstminute capital, David Helgason, Ilkka Paananen, John Lindfors and Bragiel Brothers.
In 2025, the company also secured an European Innovation Council accelerator grant of an undisclosed amount, as stated by Crunchbase.
