Top 10 CEE deals in March 2025: a monthly overview of trends in the ecosystem

March 2025, similarly to February, featured several notable deals in the Central and Eastern European startup ecosystem. AIN has analysed the latest VC deals made across the region and selected 10 biggest investments, also highlighting major trends within the CEE ecosystem in our monthly report below.

The ranking only includes data that was publicly available during the month.

10 largest investment rounds 

The best 10 major investment deals in CEE region in February 2025 were as follows: 

  1. GoByBike – €125M. Finnish employee benefit bicycle service has secured €125 million in financing from international credit investors Santander and Castlelake. This significant investment will allow Gobybike to expand its capacity to provide benefit bicycles to Finnish employers and employees. 

  2. Mews – $75M. Czech unicorn Mews, a hospitality tech platform, announced it has raised $75 million, led by Tiger Global, alongside existing investors Kinnevik, Battery Ventures and Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives. 

  3. Sunly – €62M. Estonian renewable energy company Sunly has received a €62 million loan financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) in collaboration with local commercial banks SEB and Luminor.

  4. Tribune Therapeutics – €37M. Swedish biotech Tribune Therapeutics AB has secured €37 million in seed and Series A funding to develop therapies that address the root causes of fibrotic diseases by targeting key drivers of scar tissue formation. 

  5. Flowpay – €30M. Flowpay, a Prague-based fintech company, has secured €30 million in debt financing from Fasanara Capital.  Flowpay provides operational financing to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to fuel their growth.

  6. Steady Energy – €22M. Finnish nuclear innovator Steady Energy has secured €22 million in funding led by 92 Ventures, a Copenhagen-based nuclear-focused investment firm.

  7. Jutro Medical – €12M. Jutro Medical, an AI-based primary care clinic with its own medical online AI agents, has raised €12 million in Series A funding led by KAYA VC and RIO ASI.

  8. Stargate Hydrogen – €11M. Stargate Hydrogen, an Estonian manufacturer of innovative electrolyzer stacks and systems, has completed its series A funding round, raising €11 million in equity investments from strategic customers and  investors, including SmartCap.

  9. myTU – €10M. Lithuanian myTU, an AI-powered and cloud-first digital bank, has secured a €10 million Series A, surpassing its initial €9 million target in an oversubscribed round. 

  10. XUND – €6M. XUND, a Vienna-based HealthTech scaleup which specialises in building Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), has closed a €6 million pre-Series A funding round led by Lead Ventures.

Notable acquisitions

  • On March 19, Ukrainian telecommunications company Kyivstar officially announced the acquisition of 97% of the corporate rights of Uklon.

  • On March 25, Estonian ride-hailing unicorn Bolt acquired Danish taxi startup Viggo, in a strategic move to expand its presence in regulated European markets. 

Interestingly, both Bolt and Uklon operate as online taxi services, highlighting a strong demand for various partnerships in the industry.
