After a busy March with Assassin's Creed Shadows, inZOI and Split Fiction coming out from the long wait, April 2025 seems to be much more tame. However, we are still looking forward to some interesting game releases. For example, April will see the launches of South of Midnight, an action-adventure game based on the legends of the American South; Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a Ghibli-inspired dark fantasy game, and the final part of Lost records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2.

South of Midnight
April 8 (Xbox Series X|S, PC).
A new action-adventure game from Canadian studio Compulsion Games (We Happy Few, Contrast). The story takes place in an imaginary world inspired by the American South. You play as Hazel, who has gained magical powers after a hurricane in her hometown. Using them, the girl solves puzzles, fights monsters and explores the folklore of the Southern states.
This is the studio's first project to be made exclusively for Xbox since being acquired by Xbox Game Studios.
Steel Seed
April 10 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC).
Steel Seed is a single-player stealth action project from Italian studio Storm in a Teacup.
The story takes place in a world after a catastrophic event has rendered the Earth uninhabitable, and machines have taken control of what is left of humanity. The Underground Complex is a vast structure created by machines for machines, not humans. Each region offers a unique ecological story, dangers and secrets waiting to be discovered. You play as Zoe, who explores the hostile underground complex with her drone companion, Coby. Your goal is to find a way for humanity to survive.
Lost records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2
April 15 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC).
An adventure game from Don't Nod Montréal, where every action or choice you make has a direct impact on how events unfold and how the story ends. It tells the story of four friends who meet for the first time in the summer of 1995 after 27 years of separation. They will find out what led to such a long separation and what secrets their past holds. On February 18, only the first part of the game was released, and we will be able to finish the story on April 15, when the second part will be released.
Bionic Bay
April 17 (PS5, PC).
A single-player platformer from Finnish studio Mureena and Taiwanese studio Psychoflow. You play as a scientist who uses a teleportation device to escape a biomechanical world full of traps and secrets. You will be able to adjust the environment, including gravity, and swap places with enemies during combat. You can also play online.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
April 17 (PS5).
An adventure game set in the Indiana Jones universe by Swedish studio MachineGames (known for the Wolfenstein series), published by Bethesda Softworks (The Elder Scrolls series) in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. It was released on PC and Xbox in December 2024 and will be available for PS5 this April.
The game's story takes place between the events of the Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) and tells the story of an archaeologist Indiana Jones in 1937. He is trying to stop groups from different parts of the world from trying to gain power from the "Great Circle". Dr. Jones travels to Rome, Thailand, Egypt, Shanghai and the Himalayas. The adventure game combines various mechanics: stealth, puzzles, action fights.
In general, the game received positive feedback from critics. They praise the detailed system of location exploration and side quests, as well as a good plot.
Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree
April 17 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC).
A new action-RPG with elements of Metroidvania and Soulslike from the Hungarian studio Primal Game Studio Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree will be released on April 17th. The story takes place in the dark fantasy world of Faeldum, which is gradually falling apart under the influence of the destructive forces of Entropy. The player takes on the role of an Inquisitor whose mission is to root out heretics and restore order. However, a moment of disobedience changes his path and forces him to confront the dark forces that threaten the world.
Here you can choose a character class, including Vanguard, Flameweaver, Spellbinder, Nightshade, Wyldwarden, and Vindicator. Each has its own unique combat traits and abilities. A total of 75 different locations, crafting options, and skill and ability customization await you.
The script was written by Brian Mitsoda, known for his work on Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
April 24th (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC).
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based role-playing game from French studio Sandfall Interactive, which will be released on April 24th this year. The story is set in a dark fantasy world. Every year, a divine being called the Artist awakens and writes a number on her monolith; all humans who have reached that age disappear. In the year of the game's events, the number is reduced to 33. The player leads a group called Expedition 33, which sets out to stop the Artist and put an end to her deadly ritual.
The game's art style is inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli, particularly the films Spirited Away and Howl's Traveling Castle, and aims to convey a sense of wonder and magic. Creative Director Guillaume Brochu noted that the team are big fans of Studio Ghibli, and the game's composer, Lorien Testard, was inspired by Joe Hisaishi's music.
