Microsoft once again becomes the world's most expensive company at $2.64T after Apple's stock drop
Apple's 23% stock drop over the past four trading sessions has once again made Microsoft the world's most expensive company. At the close of trading on April 8, Microsoft was worth $2.64 trillion, while Apple was worth $2.59 trillion, CNBC reports.
The market as a whole is experiencing a serious decline due to US President Donald Trump's sweeping tariff plan, but among the tech giants, it is the iPhone maker that is suffering the most due to its dependence on China.
The Nasdaq has fallen 13% in the past four trading days after Trump's decision to impose tariffs on imports from more than 100 countries sparked fears of a recession caused by rising prices. On Monday, UBS analysts predicted that the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max in the United States could reach by as much as $350.
Earlier, the value of Apple, Microsoft and chipmaker Nvidia exceeded $3 trillion. In early 2024, the Windows developer already had the largest market capitalization among public companies, but Apple soon took the top spot again.
