OpenAI introduces a memory feature in ChatGPT. Now the chatbot will remember your preferences and interests.
OpenAI has started implementing a memory feature in ChatGPT that will allow the chatbot to adapt its responses to users based on the content of their previous conversations. According to the company, the new option will allow for more personalized responses based on preferences and interests.
- The new feature will initially be available to ChatGPT Pro and Plus users, with the exception of those residing in the UK, EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.
- OpenAI explains this by the need for additional external checks to comply with local laws. The company assures that it aims to provide access to the technology in these regions in the future.
- For users of the free version of ChatGPT, the launch date is currently unknown.
- The goal of the innovation is to make interaction with ChatGPT more natural and personal. Users will no longer have to repeat information they have already provided.
- The memory feature will be enabled by default for users who have previously enabled it.
At the same time, OpenAI has provided an option to disable the new option. In the ChatGPT settings, users can not only disable the save feature completely, but also manage individual saved saves. They can also ask ChatGPT what exactly it is remembering, or enable the "temporary chat" mode for conversations in which no data is saved.
Previously, Google added a similar save feature to its Gemini chatbot.
