Ukraine reveals its own laser air defense system Tryzub
For the first time, Ukraine has shown a video demonstration of the new laser air defense system called "Tryzub." The footage was presented during the conference “European Defense Industry: Prospects for Cooperation with the Ukrainian Defense Industry,” which was attended by Lieutenant General Vadym Sukharevskyi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The released footage shows the testing of the system, including the defeat of a conditional ground target and countering an FPV drone on fiber optics. The operator's workstation with a controller for targeting was also shown.
The video also reveals detailed characteristics of the combat capabilities of the Tryzub system. According to the available information, the system is capable of:
- destroying attack drones, bombs, cruise and ballistic missiles at a distance of up to 3,000 meters;
- engaging drones, helicopters and aircraft at a distance of up to 5,000 meters;
- performing optical suppression (blinding) of drones, missiles, helicopters, and aircraft at a range of up to 10,000 meters.
Commenting on the video, Sukharevsky noted that Ukraine is currently the fifth country to have laser weapons.
Other technical details, including the stage of development or mass production, were not disclosed.
In addition, the conference demonstrated the use of a heavy drone based on a civilian Project Cessna aircraft, which is positioned as a 250 kg FAB carrier, as well as the Alligator 9 anti-ship complex, which involves the use of a guided boat with a version of the laser system called Tryzub 90.
