Vilnius-based company Vinted Go, which is part of Lithuania’s unicorn Vinted Group, has announced the acquisition of Homerr, a Dutch delivery scaleup. The companies do not disclose the amount of the deal, but it will enable both organizations to deepen their C2C delivery expertise.
- Vinted Go launched in early 2022 from Vinted’s existing shipping function. The solution pursues the aim of creating innovative and low cost shipping solutions which are also more climate-friendly. Currently, Vinted Go is rolling out an own-brand delivery network based around locker PUDO points in France, located in 9 cities.
- In 2019, Vinted acquired its unicorn status after raising €128 million. The second-hand clothing marketplace became Lithuania’s first tech unicorn.
“As a pioneer in a new way to deliver parcels, Homerr shares our commitment to develop improved PUDO delivery networks which have a lower impact on the climate than in-home delivery. Since Vinted members are a key part of its customer base, we have worked closely with the Homerr team. During this time we have been impressed with both their innovative offering and their passionate approach towards continuous improvement. We’re excited for a shared future in which we’re able to deepen the expertise and reach of both businesses to the benefit of Vinted members,”
Vytautas Atkočaitis, Vice President of Vinted Go, comments.
- Since its inception in 2016 in the Netherlands, Homerr has developed a network of social and commercial pick-up and drop-off (PUDO) points, enabling consumers across Benelux to ship and collect items easily when trading via marketplaces like Vinted.
“We have closely worked together with Vinted Go for some time now and we see a great opportunity in deepening the partnership to accelerate our growth in shaping innovative delivery solutions with a lower impact on the climate. We believe that joining forces and sharing our expertise and skills in operations with Vinted’s scale, will allow us to enable further innovation for the future. We are looking forward to growing our network and delivery service together in order to build an even better experience for our customers and partners,”
Juriaan Matthijssen and Mark-Jan Pieterse, founders of Homerr, comment.
- Homerr will continue running as it is today, with its founders Juriaan Matthijssen and Mark-Jan Pieterse taking on senior roles within the combined business.
- This acquisition will enable both organizations to deepen their C2C delivery expertise, through shared learning and increased scale.
