At SXSW, Kojima Productions showed a trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and revealed the release date - the second part of the popular game will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 and will be released on June 26, 2025, writes The Verge.
- Death Stranding 2 will cost $69.99, while the Digital Deluxe Edition and Collector's Edition versions will cost $79.99 and $229.99, respectively.
- Players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition or Collector's Edition will receive early access to the game two days before the official release, on June 24.
- Pre-orders will begin on March 17.
Game director Hideo Kojima also presented a ten-minute trailer, which begins with an argument between two characters, one of which is Neil (played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli).
The video continues with many scenes of Sam (Norman Reedus) traversing harsh landscapes, battling bad weather and avalanches, and encountering the series' signature creepy monsters.
The game features an impressive cast. As a reminder, during the Tokyo Games Show 2024, the audience was introduced to two new characters: Tumorou, played by American actress Elle Fanning, and Reina, played by Japanese actress Shioli Kutsuna.
Kojima also announced the Strands of Harmony World Tour, a concert tour featuring Death Stranding music performed by a live orchestra and vocalists. It will cover 19 cities across the world.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a direct sequel to Death Stranding (2019), the first game from Kojima Productions. The success of the original game led to the release of a director's cut, several ports to different platforms, and an upcoming movie in partnership with A24.
