Nintendo Switch 2 to release on June 5 priced from $450; Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming out this year on the platform
During Nintendo Direct on April 2, Japanese video game maker Nintendo revealed new game details, as well as the release date and price of the Switch 2. The new console will go on sale in South America on June 5, with pre-orders starting on April 9.
The Switch 2 will cost $450 for the base model, or $500 with a download code for Mario Kart World, which will be available on the day of the console's release. Nintendo plans to reveal more about the game on April 17.

Switch 2 Features
The device is equipped with a 7.9-inch screen, but its thickness remains the same as the first Switch at 13.99 mm. The LCD screen has a resolution of 1080p, supports HDR and a refresh rate of up to 120 frames per second.
The Joy-Con 2 attach to the console with magnets. In addition, each controller can be used as a mouse by dragging it across the surface of a table or pants.
The Switch 2 has significantly improved CPU and GPU performance, resulting in faster data processing, more detailed graphics and faster load times. The sound is also said to be more natural and clearer.
The console has 256GB of internal memory. This is eight times more than the original Switch. In addition, only microSD Express cards are supported, which have a faster read speed than previous microSD models.
- GameChat will be free for all Switch 2 owners until March 31, 2026, after which a paid Switch Online subscription will be required.
- And with GameShare, a new feature of the Switch 2, players can share a game and play with others even if they don't own the game. If a user has a Switch 2 and a GameShare-compatible game, they can invite others to join them temporarily.
- In addition to Switch 2 games, the console supports compatible physical and digital games released for Switch. However, some games may not work or may be partially compatible.
Games to come out on Switch 2
In addition to the aforementioned Mario Kart World, Nintendo revealed a lot of details about other games during the presentation. Here's what we know:
- The Duskbloods, a new game from FromSoftware, will be released exclusively for Switch 2. It is scheduled for release in 2026.
- The sequel to GameCube's Kirby Air Ride will be released on Switch 2.
- Nintendo is releasing a new 3D Donkey Kong game that will be exclusive to Switch 2. The game, called Donkey Kong Bananza, will be released on July 17.
- Nintendo also announced Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, a new entry in Koei Tecmo's Warriors series inspired by the Zelda universe. Like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, this game is a prequel directly related to the events of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
- Cyberpunk 2077 will be coming to Switch 2. No release date has been announced.
- Hollow Knight: Silksong, the long-awaited sequel to Hollow Knight, has been given a new release window - 2025.
- Deltarune comes to Switch 2 with new chapters. The game from the creator of Undertale will be available on the Switch 2 when it launches on June 5. In addition to the first two chapters, the collection will also include the all-new third and fourth chapters.
- Civilization VII will be released on Switch 2 with mouse support. Firaxis Games will release the game on Switch 2 on launch day, June 5. Owners of the game on the first Switch will be able to purchase an update for the Switch 2 and use the mouse feature.
- Elden Ring, Hades II, Street Fighter VI, Split Fiction, Hogwarts Legacy, Hitman Trilogy, Yakuza 0, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and more are also coming to the platform.
